Three Ways to Save Fuel and Energy With Magnets

The theory behind using a powerful magnetic field to improve fuel burn in combustion engines is nothing new. Magnetic fields were use to improve the combustion of fuel as early as 1940s. The US air force used magnets on their Mustang aircraft and produced greater range and performance from poor quality fuel. In 1952, Felix Bloch and Edward Mills Purcell were jointly awarded a Nobel Prize for their work on magnetic fields on solid, liquid and gas substances.

There are three ways magnets save energy and fuel.

Save Up

Attach a magnet to the fuel lead pipe of your burner. The magnet conditions the fuel allowing greater combustion. This happens immediately. You produce more heat for the same amount of fuel and harmful emission is cut. I have Calorgas (Liquid Petroleum Gas) central heating. Since attaching a magnet, my direct debit has been cut by 110%. If your boiler is old and inefficient, instead of buying a new boiler, try a magnet first.

In addition the cleaner burn means that the boiler will need less servicing and lasts longer. If your boiler is already efficient, then the benefit will be less. You cannot create energy during a chemical reaction. Magnets, however, allow as close to 100% combustion. Instead of buying an expensive new boiler, attach a magnet.

Attach a magnet to the fuel feed of your car and your save fuel, energy and reduce emission. The magnet improves combustion. This produces better miles per gallon, more power and a smoother running engine.

In 1992, The Warren Springs Laboratories, the UK Government DTI's own vehicle testing department, were commissioned to carry out extensive trials on the benefits of magnetic fuel on motor vehicles and were very surprised by the results. Their 16-page in-depth report confirmed increased power, improved fuel economy and a reduction in harmful emissions.

If your car is old with poor emission levels, the magnet will slowly clean the engine. So initially the emission will be higher than expected but eventually the level will drop significantly. A friend of mine tows a caravan with his Peugeot 2L HDi Partner Quicksilver. Since attaching a magnet his mpg has jumped up a further 10 mpg. Normally you would expect about 10% improvement.

Magnets stop and reduce lime scale. Lime scale forms because the solubility of calcium carbonate decreases with increased temperature. As calcium carbonate separates out, lime scale is formed.

Lime scale affects heat transfer. A layer of calcium carbonate 25mm. thick can decrease heat transfer by 95% and a 0.5mm layer of silica causes a decrease of 90%. In addition if lime scale collects on the heating element in your hot water tank, the element will not last long. Lime scale causes problems in washing machines.

If a magnet is attached at an angle perpendicular to the flow of water, it stops the lime scale deposits and breaks down the deposited lime scale. No one knows exactly why this happens but the magnet keeps calcium and magnesium in solution and stops them separating out and producing lime scale. It also lowers surface tension and stabilises pH. The magnetised water will protect your washing machine but will not stop lime scales in your kettle. This is because the magnetic effect is neutralised when the kettle is boiled.

So there you have it. With fuel prices going upwards at regular intervals, attach a magnet to your boiler, your water system and your car and save energy, save fuel, save money, reduce emission and prolong the life of your boiler and car.

With global warming a major current issue, it is up to all of us to do our bit. In Germany, if your boiler emission level is too high, your pay a fine. One day it will come to Britain and USA. If you have emission problem, a magnet will quickly solve it. The right magnet will keep its magnetic properties for 100 years and you take it with you when you move home or change cars. It needs no maintenance. You just simply forget about it.

1. Use a directory. You can minimize driving miles off your route and pick out lower priced places to stay. Call ahead to verify rates and availability.

I hear from a lot of people who ask me how to know if it's worth the time and effort that it takes to save a marriage when things seem really bleak, there seem to be too many issues between both spouses, and / or they are at a point when it's hard to see a possible solution or improvement. I suppose the underlying worry that many people seem to have is something like "is it really going to be worth it to got through all the work, vulnerability, and effort to save this marriage only to have the efforts not stick or to ultimately fail and then in the end all we're really going to be left with is a stale relationship that hasn't worked for a really long time?"

I suppose that the above scenario would be disheartening and frustrating.  But, the real key is creating something that doesn't turn out that way.  Yes, it requires patience, commitment, vulnerability, and trying new things.  However the pay out can be great and very rewarding.  But to get to this place, you truly do need at least some foundation.  There has to be something left on which to build or make a new start.  And a few marriages are just no longer there.  In the following article, I'll go over some signs or tips off that may indicate that the marriage is either worth saving or just isn't likely to be revived.

Rather than shaking your head and responding "nope, we don't have that anymore," be willing to rebuild it.  Enjoying time together is one of the huge perks of being married.  You're no longer delegated to doing things solo and you always have a partner.

Think about this.  When you first fell in love, the equation went something like this.  You spend a lot of your spare time together setting up situations where you could have fun and have pleasurable experiences together that you both enjoyed (even though you may have been participating in activities that weren't typical for you or were outside of your comfort zone.) You were still having a good time because of who you were with. You were willing to have an open mind and heart because you wanted desperately for this to work out.  Each positive encounter and outcome placed you one step closer to the day you got married and were very closely bonded

How open is your heart and mind right now? How often do you pour yourself into these shared experiences? Are you open to them when or if your spouse does? Because saving your marriage requires for you to be open to again finding this common ground and putting in the time necessary to feed this cycle.  Marriages can not survive neglect, but most can be revived if both people are willing to put in even a fraction of the effort that they did when they first met.

 Is There Really Nothing Left?: I often tell people who ask if there marriage is really worth saving to envision their spouse walking into a restaurant where they are eating five years from now.  Both of you are with other people.  How do you feel when you see the other woman (or man) on your husband (or wife's) arm? Very few people will answer "nothing at all" when I ask this question.  However, if you truly can, if you're feeling indifferent to the outcome or your spouse, then this can be a tip off that you're at the point of no return.  Because anger, resentment, fear, or holding back can all be overcome. These things can actually be a positive sign because they show that you're still feeling emotions.  But complete indifference is another story.  It can be worked through, but it's a bit more challenging. 

However, I sincerely doubt that someone who is taking the time and effort to research "is my marriage really worth saving" is completely indifferent.  Your taking the time to weigh your options and not make an incorrect decision shows me that you are in the former category rather than the later.  And, I sincerely hope that you now have your answer.

First, let's address expression versus suppression. Put simply, tell your partner how you are feeling. Years of giving relationship advice has taught me that one thing is certain: If you list a litany of your partner's negative behaviors you are much more likely to engender a very negative response. In other words, don't make a case against your partner, simply tell them how their behavior makes you feel.

I can hear some of you saying, "Your relationship advice is all fine and dandy, but what if someone has a difficult time expressing how they feel?" My experience as a counselor has taught me that many people legitimately have trouble expressing their emotions. After all, talking openly about our feelings leaves us at risk for possible criticism or rejection. On the plus side, however, it can deepen your love and relationship! Therefore, try to trust your loving partner, because if you can't communicate with them, then who? As long as a sincere effort is made to communicate by the "stuck" partner, albeit slowly at first, then that is usually sufficient to bolster the relationship. For you shy folks out there who may have trouble opening up, try emphasizing substance over style. You don't have to be the William Shakespeare of emotional expression; the simple, direct approach is just as effective.

In addition, remember to stick to one issue at a time. Try not to respond to your partner's constructive criticism with defensive statements such as "Oh yeah, well you're no prize either!" Such defensive responses have nothing to do with the initial point and ultimately block effective communication. Remember: While engaged in a discussion or debate, do not bring up something unrelated to the topic at hand. This is a VERY common logical fallacy called a Red Herring argument. Sadly, many partners and even citizens are often duped by these illogical connections. I can't emphasize this enough, stick to the topic under discussion.

Also, be aware that there is a big difference between being assertive and "nagging." Being assertive means offering a solution. Emphasize that you are coming from a helpful place, and want to work together to create a better union. Nagging, on the other hand, usually involves pointing out "cracks" in your partner and relationship, which has the effect of pushing your partner away. Now that you know the pivotal difference, use this understanding to enhance loving communication.

Additional tips to keep in mind: How you engage in the discussion helps what you are actually saying. Therefore, sit next to your partner, hold their hand, talk in a comfortable place. By combining some sensitivity with your gentle assertiveness, remember that your goal is not to "Win" an argument, but to grow closer.

Take if from me: When you're engaging in a dialog, no matter how serious, if you're coming from a loving place then it can only bring you closer together. This can be considered sage relationship advice, but it has more to do with simple common sense and treating others how we wish to be treated.

You see, when a borrower stops making their mortgage payments and subsequently loses their home to foreclosure, the government loses too.

The Federal Government, both directly and indirectly, has a financial interest in virtually every residential mortgage issued nationwide.

The Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB), a Federal Agency, insurers the millions of VA and FHA home mortgages. These mortgages have the highest default rate of any type of mortgage.

When one of these mortgages goes bad, the servicing bank forecloses on the mortgage and sells the property at auction. If the property sells for less than the balance owed on the mortgage, the FHLBB has to make up the difference to the bank.

This situation will soon become commonplace as the real estate market sinks under the weight of its own excesses.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSE) that supply money to the banks to make mortgage loans, guarantee or insure the bulk of the non-FHA mortgages.

These GSE's are contractually obligated to step in and make up missed mortgage payments to the banks if the borrowers do not make the payments.

They must also cover 20% of any loss sustained by a bank that forecloses one of their mortgages when the sale of the property does not fully pay off the mortgage balance.

Since these agencies have so much to lose when a homeowner defaults, it is possible for the knowledgeable homeowner to get help from them to avoid foreclosure.

It is demonstrably cheaper for the agency to help the homeowner with a grant to cover mortgage arrears rather than having to reimburse the bank's loss on a short sale. These grants do not have to be repaid in many cases.

Other agencies will make loans to the embattled homeowner which do not have to be repaid until the house is sold or refinanced.

At the very least, most agencies have workout programs that temporarily suspend or lower payments that allow the delinquent borrower to catch up. We have even heard of situations where the government agency will bully banks into accepting payments from borrowers after they told the borrower they would not accept them.

However, there are a few problems homeowners may face when seeking help from the Government with their foreclosure problems.

One problem is that each agency has its own rules for qualifying for each option. A major requirement is the amount of delinquency, but there are other guidelines as well. Among them are whether the borrower is employed, how much cash, if any he has and the nature and duration of whatever caused the problem in the first place.

Finally, the borrower has to be aware the programs exist, as you now are; then you have to be able to find the right person in the right department to help you.

After all, these are Government Agencies!

Although you can certainly contact the various agencies mentioned in this article directly, they are all on the web; you might want to seek out professional representation to make sure your situation is presented in the best light to the right person at the right agency.

In any event, act now. The longer you wait to seek help, the fewer chances you will have to save your home!

As an experienced counselor, one of the questions I'm asked frequently is, "Can a marital separation ever save a marriage?" My answer is a qualified "yes."

Sometimes a couple is miserable living together and can't seem to co-exist without having constant harping and bickering. If they have children, they may worry about the impact on them of all the fighting. Each spouse wants the marriage to work and is willing to work on the problems and issues in marriage counseling while they're separated.

Couples in this situation often plan to use the separation period to "let the dust settle," reflect on the marriage, take responsibility for their share of what has happened, and work on individual and joint issues in counseling. One goal is for the spouses to use their problem-solving skills in counseling to address and resolve the most serious problems before moving back together. Both spouses agree not to date anyone else and to focus exclusively on working to improve the marriage.

Can a Marital Separation Ever Save a Marriage?

For these couples, the separation can be a time to think, to reflect, to analyze, to cool off and calm down, and to take a break from each other. It also provides time and space for each spouse to make unhurried, thoughtful decisions instead of waiting for things to blow up and then impulsively leaving. Used in this way, a planned separation can actually help to save a marriage.

In other cases, one spouse or the other may move out on the spur of the moment after an upsetting argument. The separation is unplanned, and there are no plans for marriage counseling, no guidelines agreed upon about seeing others, and no tentative time-line for the separation.

There is usually much anxiety on the part of the partner who has been left unexpectedly and there are many unanswered questions: What is happening? Will the partner file for divorce? Will the marriage survive? Whether the separation will help or hurt the marriage is unknown in this case. Things could go either way, depending on what happens.

Another situation that can result in separation is when a spouse is living in an intolerable situation in the marriage. Perhaps the partner is verbally abusive, chronically runs around, or shows continual disrespect towards his or her spouse in some other way. The spouse may have tried to get the partner to go to counseling, but the partner always refused.

Sometimes the best thing the spouse can do is to decide to separate and hope that the partner will be shocked enough by the unexpected action to finally agree to work on the marriage. In situations like this, a separation can sometimes save the marriage.

The partner often says, "I knew we had some problems, but I didn't think they were that serious. I never thought she (or he) would really leave. She kept telling me, but I didn't believe her." The spouse then has to stand firm and let the partner know that she is going to live separately because "I refuse to be in a marriage where I'm treated like this. I deserve more."

By not rushing to file for divorce, the spouse finds out during the planned separation if the partner is finally motivated enough to enter counseling and work on changing. If the couple enters counseling, the therapist will then be able to give them a recommendation about when they are ready to live together again, if ever.

Of course, there are no guarantees in a marital separation. The separation might be instrumental in saving the marriage, or it may widen the gap between the two spouses and eventually lead to divorce. A planned separation is always preferable to an impulsive one.

The following five tips can help you if you need to think about separating from your spouse:

1. Talk with your spouse about what your individual goals are for the separation. Are they the same or different?

2. Try to reach agreement that neither of you will date anyone else during this period of time. If your marriage is going to have the best chance possible, you'll want to agree not to have sexual entanglements with others so you can continue to work on your relationship.

3. Set a tentative time period for the separation, such as three months. At the end of that time, you can both re-evaluate the decision in terms of what's best for each of you.

4. Agree to seek individual and joint counseling during the separation to address the key problems and issues that have caused conflict in the marriage. This is an ideal time to do some deep individual work on your own personal issues as well as to address core relationship issues.

5. Set guidelines that you both agree to about how much contact you'll have during the separation and what kind of contact it will be. It doesn't do any good to have a separation if one spouse or the other is calling on the phone every five minutes and constantly wanting to talk more about the problems. The separation is supposed to reduce conflict and give each person some space and relief from constant pressure and arguments.

Possibly the neatest and most convenient way of adding a shower to your bathroom is to add a self-contained shower unit within an enclosure. The problem with this is that most bathrooms are built with only a bathtub, toilet and washbasin and were not designed with the addition of a shower in mind.

Modern housing is generally built to a price and that dictates both the space allowed for the bathroom and the fixtures that go into it and when it's a choice between a shower and a bathtub then the tub wins every time. Why? Because people think about showers as luxury extras rather than essential items like bathtubs.

When a builder designs a property they design it so that the bathroom fixtures are spread out to fill the available space. This makes the bathroom look balanced and it will almost certainly result in the cheapest design, which is often the main goal of the builder.

By using all the available space in the bathroom the original designer is able to use larger items if they wish. This can represent quite a cost saving on things like toilets where the space-saving models tend to be the most expensive. The builder also saves money because there will be plenty of space around the fixtures to enable a fast installation.

How to make more space in the small bathroom

Now that we know why there seems to be so little space in the typical small bathroom we might be able to do something to improve matters when remodeling. The original designer probably chose the fixtures for cost rather than space so you can look for smaller items, which will do the same job and rearrange things to fit.

Toilet

Small, slim-line toilets are available that take up a lot less wall space. Using one of these can result in more available room to add a shower.

Washbasin

If you can live with a smaller washbasin then look for one that is just the right size for your needs. You can get some very tiny models that will fit into the tightest of spaces.

Bathtub

You could opt for a smaller bathtub. I hardly ever use mine now that I have a shower unit but if you go this route try to get one that is deeper than normal. The extra depth can go some way to making up for the smaller length.

Radiator and towel rail

Move the radiator higher on the wall to save floor space. I put mine above the bath and chose a stainless steel product that looks good and doubles as a heated towel rail.

Rearrange the layout

Get yourself some squared paper and play with cut outs of the fixtures to see if you can design a better fitting arrangement. The original design probably allowed plenty of free space so you might have more success than you imagine by doing this.

Use a space saving curved quadrant shower enclosure

You may be thinking of fitting a stand-alone shower enclosure with a square or rectangular base. By applying the suggestions above to your new small bathroom design you might well find that you succeed in freeing enough space to fit one. This is great, if you can do that you've won, you will not regret it.

If you can fit a square or rectangular enclosure into your new design then you know that you have done what you set out to do but you might still be a little concerned about how cramped the bathroom is going to be with it installed. Now is the time to look at different types of shower enclosure.

A curved quadrant shower enclosure has a base shaped like a square with two of the sides curved. My calculations show that this reduces the floor area required by the enclosure by approximately 14%, which can make a big difference. I use a curved quadrant enclosure in my small bathroom and I don't miss the space inside the enclosure but I am very thankful for the extra space in the rest of the bathroom.

How to Save Water at Home

Several ways that you can help to reduce your water consumption are:

Storage

For some of us, when we need a glass of cold water we turn on the tap and allow the water to flow into the sink until it is coming through cold enough for us to drink. We are wasting it this way. Therefore, by filling a jug or bottle and placing it in the refrigerator will get the job done because, whenever you need something cold, it will be there.

Defrosting

Do not defrost meat or any other food under running water. Instead, several hours before preparing it take it out of the freezer and place it in the fridge or an empty sink. However, if you prefer to use liquid in the defrosting process, full a bowl and put the food in, instead of a sink full of water.

Right Load

When washing clothes and dishes do use more water than is necessary. That is, if you are washing half a load of clothes in a washing machine, do not use a full tub, set the machine to stop when the water is in the middle, or only wash when you have a full load.

As for the dishes, if you are using a dishwasher, wash only when you have a full load. On the other hand, if you are doing it by hand, full the sink to an appropriate level and add washing liquid, instead of turning on the pipe every time you are about to wash a dish.

Leaking Faucets

If there are any leaking faucets in your home, although only small drops may be escaping, it is best to get them fix because at the end of the month a few gallons of water would have escaped.

No Trash Bin

Do not use the toilet as a trash bin. By this I mean, instead of dropping a tissue that you used due to a cold, or tissue that the children left lying on the floor, into the toilet and flushing it, drop it in the waste basket.

Shorter Showers

Shorter showers are also a good way to save water.
